In addition to homestead exemption, Florida offers personal property tax exemptions for qualified applicants that are available upon request. Below are property tax exemptions available for qualified applicants. Applications for these property tax exemptions are due to our office by March 1 of the applicable tax year. To apply for this exemption, a completed DR-501SC as well as proof of prior years’ household adjusted gross income must be provided. Please contact our office if you are unsure of the income limitation.
To apply for this exemption, you must identify yourself as widowed on your homestead application or provide a copy of your late spouse’s death certificate.
To apply for this exemption, you must provide either a Florida physician’s certification form (DR-416) or SSDI award letter.
To apply for this exemption, you must provide two (2) non-affiliated Florida physician certification forms (DR-416).
Limited income and hemiplegic, paraplegic, wheelchair required, or legally blind (totally exempt)
To apply for this exemption, you must provide two (2) non-affiliated Florida physician certification forms (DR-416), a DR-501A, as well as proof of prior years’ total household income. If legally blind, you may provide DR-416B forms in place of DR-416 forms. If you’re unsure of the income limitation, please contact our office.
Per statute, only lands primarily used for bona fide agricultural purposes are eligible to receive an agricultural land classification. Learn more by visiting the agricultural classification page on this website.
To apply for this exemption, you must provide a First Responder Employer’s Certification of Injury, as well as an incident report, a First Responder Physicians Certificate of Total & Permanent Disability and proof of SSDI, if eligible. If ineligible for Social Security benefits, please provide two (2) First Responder Physicians Certificate of Total & Permanent Disability.
This also carries over to the surviving spouse (discount based on disability rating). To apply for this exemption, you must provide a DR-501DV and a letter from the Veteran’s Administration attesting to combat-related disability(s). The PR-SSDISVT is a recommended form.

There are other exemptions based on how property is used. Some of the more common of these include charitable, religious, scientific, or literary exemptions. Additional exemptions in this category are educational, non-profit homes for the aged, hospitals and nursing homes, affordable housing and historic buildings.
